If you store data going back several years, multiply that again.Īll this leads me to the conclusion that the removal of the CSV files was not an accident caused by any website upgrades but a deliberate first step in the direction of making (useful) historical data inaccessible without paying for it.įair enough, it's their data but I find this all a bit shortsighted. If you store a year's worth of data which you allow people to access, then you will have to charge around £100 per year just to cover the potential Betfair fees. hahahahaaaaa)īy my reckoning, based on an average of (say) 4 meetings per day then that is 28p per day. I suspect that they will have a different pricing model for individuals who just want the data for personal use (and I suspect that that crappy site is all we'll have) but for anyone who wishes to publish the historical Betfair data, the fees are a bit silly as they are looking at charging per end-user, per meeting and that will be 7 pence (this is for historical data - live, in-running data is going to be 28p per meeting. The licencing fee is currently under review but the details they just sent me (I presume it was a first draught) was quite laughable in its impracticality. Well, they are looking to impose a licence fee for the historical data and this looks likely to come into effect within the next 12 months.
